Odyssey to Costa Rica
Sometimes things turn out different than you thought:
Nighttrain to Amsterdam, one day in Amsterdam:
In the evening flight to London, one night at the airport and in the morning heading off to Costa Rica. After more than half-way the vulcano next to the airport in San José decides to spit some ashes into the air. Therefore the pilot turns around and flys back to London (excellent!)
Luckily BA pays for accomodation, food and provides a new flight. This one goes after one night in Hilton to Houston. Therefore I had a 10 hour sunset and the honour to fly over greenland and got to see all the glaciers
One night in Houston in Mariott and off I go to Costa Rica. Total travelling time: 95h

A journey in train
Pretty packed on the platforms
inside the train it's not allowed to smork wahatever that means
sitting in the doors doesn't seem to be it because that's very common
Therfore I did it aswell so the remaining lice will be blown from my head. Had to squint my eyes for the head wind pretty heavily

Buenaventura VIII
Daily routine in Buenaventura: a mud-slide covers the road and impedes driving further. The road underneath got swept totally into the valley. All pictures: Claudia Hermes

Indonesia XXIX
Travelling in Indonesia means you wait 3 hours to get out of one harbour, then you cross the channel on the ferry in 2 hours before waiting another 3 hours in the middle of the other harbour to finally get on land again

Indonesia XIX
On the ferry: 10 motorbikes, 2 cars and about 100 million bananas...
...and 20 horses. It took about 8 hours to load all the bananas while I was waaaaaaaaiting, because they all entered one by one. At least in the end they drove in the rest on top of the trucks

Bali-Sumba (and back)
Too far, too dangerous. That's what everybody was telling me. The most dangerous thing to me was falling in love with motorcycling. What I propably did...
Maybe that's why I had empty streets, hehe.
Waiting for the ferry
Some of my companions on the way. Just slightly loaded so they can still fit into the ferry.
