European Wooden Surfboard Meet

In Berria happened to be the European Wooden Surfboard Meet this year where lots of the woodenboardbuilders from Europe met to talk and exchange. Naturally we couldn't miss out on this one with Yellowfoot. And yes how it was worth it: lots of nice people and crazy boards in every imaginable way of constructing them and style. An absolute enrichment!!

Big Update II

Fter Zarautz I was craving for a more agressive board. Therfore the enhanced version of Totti's Turtle with a different sea creature on it was created. Here after the newest glazing experiment:

and the final result (pics: Flo):

that thing had to be tested for sure. So off we went to Vendee (pics: yellowfoot)

There is also the possibility to make scenic pictures in front of old french houses

The Lolli

After 4 years with the "wilde 13" and about 160.000 km travelled I feel like surfing another board. Therefore the new one-board-quiver needs to be there so the bag ain't too heavy.  Handy I had to come back to Freiburg with the bus from the university after the surfcamp. So quickly to the workshop to develop the new prototype for extensive travels with the guys from yellowfoot.
Firstoff on the computer:

Quickly building a blank

into the cutter

the other side aswell

and there is the rough shape. Just sanding...

...and inlets out of harder wood to protect the ends of the board

For it to be a real prototype there needs to be a colour-experiment, too. Here the first step:

That's it for today, Soon more.

100.000km

For the 3rd birthday of my wild 13, after more than 100.000km of travels on four continents, 15 flights, countless drives in busses, trains, cars, on trucks, motor- and pushbikes, skateboards, with ferrys, boats and canoes, after 5 snapped leashes and the board therefore into the rocks, after 4 people were sitting on the rails on a bumpy busride (Philippines), after it flew off the bemo with 60km/h (Philippines aswell), after the bike fell on it (damn, Philippines again), countless wipe-outs, over-the-falls, contacts ith the reef, river-, beach- and reefwaves, contests, shapecamps and most of all maaaany hours inthe surf in small, big, flat, hollow, relaxed and dangerous waves it was time for the 100.000km- check before going to Ecuador. Fixed the epoxy on the rails and polished it for the nice shine. Ready.

Mini Simons Part IV

The blank is finished shaping and looks absolutely crazy. Now it only needs to be glassed. This could be a problem because the waves are good these days, hehe.

Mini Simmons Part III

Found some time for shaping today:

Spoon in the nose for less volume

Hull at the lower side of the nose

criminal concav at the tail

Mini Simmons Part II

Between surfing, the happening at the elementaryschool and surfing again there was some time for shaping
