Balinese Newyear: in the evening the bad demons get chased away with homemade Monsters (ogoh ogoh) and after midnight there's absolute curfew for a day and one night. Nobody on the streets and no light after sunset. This way the demons should be fooled because they can't find anybody and therefore they're supposed to leave the island for a long time. For me this meant the first religion-forced Layday of my life...
